I remember seeing Perfect Bars pop up one day in the refrigerated section. I was used to seeing shelf stable nutrition bars, so it intrigued me. They’ve since expanded to desserts. I got milk chocolate peanut butter cups for $1 on sale.
Each package comes with two and are 105 calories each. First, they are not comparable to Reese’s. The texture is a little more soft and the peanut butter flavor isn’t as strong. There’s also 4g of protein in one, which is definitely not in a Reese’s cup. It’s also highlighted as a low glycemic food (9g of added sugar), which contributes to the premium pricing.
The snacks were created by a small family in 2005; I was only a little surprised when I found that Mondelez bought them in 2019. It’s not surprising since it’s a healthier brand to fit among Oreos, Toblerone, Chips Ahoy, and consumers are trending towards healthier on the go snacks.
The packaging still has Perfect Food LLC on the back and has the “family story,” which give it a small brand feel. It’s an indulgent snack created to make you feel less guilty. It won’t be a regular purchase for me though.
